I actually had an interview with John Oates of Hall and Oates. That was the end of it, which is nice. To me, it had a concept. That relates to a lot of our young fans. We all knew that it was a big risk. It was rough. It really pissed me off that people were acting like that towards her. I sort of wrote it telling her that if it was just her and I on a different planet, I would be happy with that.

Or, if we threw away our phones and went and lived in the woods together, we would be fine. None of this shit mat- ters. None of that talk matters. I was trying to relay that to her in a song. I wanted to be left alone to make these songs. I always considered making an album as similar to creating a painting or writing a poem. There are no rules. There should never be anybody telling you what to do. That song is just me speak- ing about the process of what I was going through.

The isolation was pretty brutal. I took things too far at points, being alone and working on things. You need your friends.

It summed up what I went through. We wrote that in L. I let that one sit lyrically. After taking the summer off to spend some more time on writing new material, the band was supposed to head out on their first ever South American Tour supporting Sum 41 in September; however, due to illness of Sum 41's frontman, the tour was cancelled.

They once again contributed to an "Punk goes On December 22, , a video update revealed in that in early , the band will be going into the studio to record their 3rd studio album. On December 26, , Vic Fuentes announced on the band's Facebook page that the band is finishing up writing the songs for their third album, which they began writing during the summer and while on tour with Miss May I, Woe Is Me, The Amity Affliction and letlive during November—December, and that now they'll be picking a producer to work with them on the album in early On February 27, , The band issued an update on their official Facebook page stating that they have chosen to work with producers Dan Korneff and Kato Khandwala at the House of Loud in New Jersey, on their upcoming third album.

On April 20, , it was announced that the new album would be titled Collide with the Sky and would be released through Fearless Records on July 17, On May 17, , the album cover as well as the tracklist of the new album were revealed, together with the announcement of the band's first ever UK headlining tour in September The first single from the new album, King for a Day , features Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens and was released on June 5, , followed by the second single, Bulls in the Bronx , three weeks later on June 26, In order to promote the album, the band appeared on the Vans Warped Tour from June, 16 to August 5, , playing the event's main stage for the first time.

They were regularly joined on stage by Kellin Quinn to perform King for a Day together. After Warped, Pierce the Veil embarked on their first headlining tour in the UK, selling out almost all of the dates. They ended the year appearing at 33 in Rock Sounds magazine's best albums of list as well as winning nine categories in the best of reader's poll conducted by Alternative Press, including Best Live Band of the Year , Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.

On January 9, Vic Fuentes released information that he had recently been in the studio writing new songs with Tom Denney. In the fall of , they switched their name to Pierce the Veil , which was the name of a track on the previous Before Today album, and brought on board bassist Jaime Preciado and guitarist Tony Perry.

Their original affiliation with Equal Vision continued, and in early summer , A Flair for the Dramatic appeared via the Albany-based label. The fall was then spent on opening dates for rockers From First to Last.

A second album, Selfish Machines , arrived on the label in before the band parted ways with Equal Vision, eventually signing with Fearless Records the following year. Their third album, Collide with the Sky , appeared on their new label in , with production from Dan Korneff. More touring followed during and , along with recording for Pierce the Veil 's fourth album, Misadventures, which appeared in the spring of AllMusic relies heavily on JavaScript.
