Your character will have four attributes specifically in RtWM, which are different than his normal attributes. In order to level up your attributes, you have to gain Superstar Points abbreviated SP , earned by winning matches. Once you have enough, you need to visit the trainer's room, which is the south room of the west hallway. In there will be a trainer: talk to him, and you'll get to put points into damage resistance, strike damage, grapple damage, or momentum gain rate. There is no "best" category: they're all useful, but you should play to your strategy.
For example, if you're mainly a striker, you should pour points into your strike damage first and worry about the others later. We had the best experience by going all-out with upgrading "Momentum Gain" so we could bust out finishers faster, but your mileage may vary.
Remember that if you're short some points, you can always find guys in the back to pick a fight with. You can't fight the same guy more than once per backstage session, but guys will come and go from the hallways as you stand around, so you can hang out and wait for others to beat the crap out of. Remember that backstage fights only net you 50 SP unless it's a challenge match , so your reward is a bit limited.
