One of the proposals for the interest of the alumni was an article concerning the fraternity for publication in the Crisis. President Charles H. Garvin then requested Brother W. Brother DuBois had replied that he would accept an article of a general character.
Brother Joseph R. General Secretary, wrote to Brother Garvin on September 8. In the consideration of these officers was the knowledge which had come to members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity that there had been organized in a graduate fraternity known as the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity which had initiated several of ihe Alpha alumni members. Therefore, in order to maintain the alumni connections with Alpha Phi Alpha. This process was the general plan among the older and more traditional American college fraternities.
Bland and H. Bowden 2 of the distinguished 13 founders of Alpha Rho and others. My chapter brothers along with Bro. There were two highlights that really made the visit special: the first was when we walked into the room and we identified ourselves as Morehouse Men - a smile came to Brother Browns face and then we identified ourselves as his Alpha brothers Laughter filled the room.
The second highlight was at the end of our stay when we gathered to the sing the hymn around the bed in his room. Brother Brown stretched out his arms and connected to the circle and to all of our amazement joined us in singing the hymn. Can you imagine the 95 year old, Alpha Rho initiate singing the fraternity hymn.
He let off a few words but we could truly fell the Fraternal spirit in his blood. Of course Brother brown did not let us leave until he gripped all of us the correct way. I have to say this has been one of my best experiences since I've been in the Fraternity.

This is not the first time that something like this has gone on. Rumor has it that a Delta put these things up last time! I would ask you to please inform the brothers that some of our secrets are out there and to be extremely careful.
Thank You. Skip, In response to the brother from But "walking" marching through the dance during a record became popular in the time period that I mentioned. Which by the way was done just once or twice usually at the end of the party Unfortunately as years went on some of the brothers marched tooooo long and got carried way Dear Bro. Mason, Recently, some of the Bros. It was said that Sigmas used canes before Kappas, and we used canes even before them.
We just never used it as symbol for the fraternity. In addition it was said that some chapters in the northeast use them. The Great Sphinx of Giza was made out of one unified body of stone which represents the fraternity and its members. This is in contrast to other fraternities that traditionally echo themes from the golden age of Ancient Greece. Alpha's constant reference to Ethiopia in hymns and poems are further examples of Alpha's mission to imbue itself with an African cultural heritage.
Fraternity brother Charles H. Throughout its history, Alpha Phi Alpha has promoted knowledge and achievement. The archives for Alpha Chapter at Cornell University reveal the tenacity of the early members of the Fraternity as it expanded to Howard University in and to Virginia Union University in , and subsequently to other major campuses across the country.
